31.05.2020 Village impressions
Time goes by so fast in a way. I had saved this post for a dull moment in between but I should have known that there probably wouldn't be many! At last I leave here a collection of pictures of mostly scenery from my arrival time (lush green rice fields) to harvest time days before I leave. So many beautiful memories from my time in Ambovo, Madagaskar. Here a mix of scenery outside of the hospital :)
Rice fields in January
Such intense green of the early rice plants
On the scenic way home from the supermarket
Celebrating Dr. Joselitto's 30th birthday!
The ridge behind the hospital
Sunset in Ambovo
Short cuts through Ambovo
In front of the hospital and the blue kiosk for coffee and mofo gasy snacks
One of many regular stops at the local kiosk for eggs
Bringing food and supplies home
I'm so glad we were here together to take in all these scenes,
longer than planned but an unforgettable experience
Did you know banana trees only bear fruit once!?
Rice harvest, the remains of the plant are laid out in beautiful shapes to dry.
They are then used for thatching the roofs of houses.
Yes its hanging by only a few millimeters on the other end!
Walk to the hills around Ambovo
Laundry day at the lake
Water for washing, water for relaxing (wouldn't recommend swimming!)
Church services held even when the building is not finished
and the roof still missing
Panorama view about an hours walk away
One of many beautiful sunsets
Village by the riverside where people make bricks
Cattle crossing
Practical building techniques
Some lived in beautiful houses,
still no water or electricity here
Last walk through the harvested rice fields
So different than the lush green from the beginning

The wonderful guest house of the school mission that was home while in Madagaskar. They just added the pavillion, roof not quite finished but still got to enjoy it a little bit :)
