Some of the most rewarding moments have been ones like these. This is the CPN (Consultation prenatal) room in which all the patients come for antenatal care as well as post partum for vaccinations and check-ups. Today we had only a handful of patients and they were willing to volunteer for our teaching today. The topic today was how to determine the amniotic fluid index (AFI). This is a an easy ultrasound technique by which the placenta function can be determined for patients past their delivery date in order to help determine if one can wait for spontaneous contractions or if perhaps an induction is necessary. I had twelve students-all local midwives except the two German volunteers on the right, a medical student and social worker, and towering above the rest, Dr. Joselitto and in front of him Dr. Vero, a general doctor.
